Like many real estate professionals, my personal background is quite diverse, concentrating mostly on entrepreneurial activities into my thirties. I enjoy people immensely and have a strong belief that we all have the capacity to work through any challenge put in front of us. My first profession / business grew out of a childhood love of horses, nature, and teaching.
Growing up in northern Delaware and Unionville, Pennsylvania, I had the opportunity to work with some of the finest flat, turf, and steeplechase trainers in the world. Later, in Poughkeepsie and Millbrook, New York I worked and taught in the hunter/jumper arena with top-level trainers and students, and for a brief time was licensed as a thoroughbred racehorse trainer. An injury put me out of paddock and saddle until I came to Port Townsend twenty-some years later.
My equine profession was followed by a series of unique and challenging entrepreneurial experiences. These included a music management company for original artists in the Philadelphia market (Terrapin Productions) and a toy invention and patent company (Tetra Labs).
The entrepreneurial years ended in 1990 as I began a public affairs career for a statewide solid waste management authority. While in that position I co-authored a national award-winning environmental education curriculum, with which I finally had the opportunity to utilize my early education degree from Bennett College.
Work in environmental education led me to a private sector position with JT&A as vice president of the EnviroScape® section. In 1998 we opened a west coast office to further the development of educational programs and demonstration tools showing the benefit of land use best management practices for improving water quality.
After leaving JT&A, I became a Realtor® in the Port Townsend area, where I continue to be involved with local natural resources and planning issues, working to protect the beautiful environment around us, while ensuring that those who wish to make their lives here area able to do so.
I'm thriving in my business and living on a small horse farm in Jefferson County with my husband, Norm MacLeod, who is responsible for the marvelous photography on this site and accompanying my listings.

Teren was so great. She took us to each house and let us take our time looking at everything and feeling it out without pressuring us or trying to sway our decision. Then she listened to us and each time we went out looking she had better suggestions to fit our needs.
In the end, we got a fantastic house! The only drawback is that we didn't get to go house-hunting with Teren any more, because we had such a great time with her.
If we ever buy another house, we'll definitely give her a call. Thanks so much, Teren!
